Featured Donor: Reunion Island Coffee
Reunion Island Coffee in Oakville, Ontario, has been a consistent Coffee Kids supporter, and the fact that their support has increased annually is a testament to the company’s committed concern for coffee-farming families.
In November, Reunion Island launched their Rainforest Alliance Certified Organic Holiday Blend and will donate a portion of sales to Coffee Kids. Throughout the year a portion of the sales from the Brazil Bahia Blue line of coffee also goes to Coffee Kids.
Reunion Island encourages their customers to support Coffee Kids through an innovative fundraising program. Reunion Island donates coffee and supplies to a cafe, which in turn holds a coffee-give-away-for-charity event. Instead of asking their customers to pay for their drinks, they request donations for Coffee Kids. The baristas also donate all their tips to the designated charity. Coffee Kids has been the recipient of several of these fundraisers.
“Reunion Island is so proud to support the important work that Coffee Kids is doing on the ground with coffee producers in developing countries,” said Adam Pesce, director of coffee development. “They are just one of many reasons why coffee has become, and remains, a leader in sustainable agriculture—we’re just happy to be along for the ride.”
“We really appreciate partners who share our work with others. Reunion Island has been an amazing partner over the years,” said Carolyn Fairman.
