It only takes you about 3 minutes to make a coffee, so that’s all we are asking: for you to spend these next 3 minutes of your time with us.

Why? Because the story of good coffee starts much earlier that in your neighbourhood cafe, or at your local coffee roaster. It starts with young coffee farmers, with someone following their dreams. Find out below how you can support young coffee farmers and their communities, and invest in the #futureofcoffee.

Questions about our work

The global disruption caused by the spreading of COVID-19 is affecting every aspect of our lives. With limited access to information as well as healthcare, it is especially vital to assist young coffee farmers and their communities in every way possible.

At Coffee Kids we are adjusting our methods, but our effort and commitment continues.
The reality is that crises are not new to rural coffee farming communities, but we believe that, just as we have dealt with drought, plant disease, fluctuating prices, and migration, with community support and coordinated action we can protect the young women and men in Coffee Kids. We are still in constant communication with participants over digital channels as well as doing individual spot checks on key field locations. Most critically, we are leveraging our connections with leaders of farmer organizations to ensure members, young and old, are getting up-to-date information.

In the countries where our young farmers live, the national governments are already taking precautionary steps. Our offices and staff in Guatemala, Honduras, and Tanzania are all following recommendations from government health agencies.

Coffee Kids is dedicated to helping our young men and women continue to find solutions as this difficult situation evolves. We are looking forward, recognizing that crop cycles continue despite coronavirus, and anticipating the needs in these rural communities. We are asking for your generosity and support to help us continue these ongoing services during this uncertain time. Coffee Kids was taken under the wing of Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung North America in 2015 to enable Coffee Kids to extend reach and impact. Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung North America has team members on the ground across 6 regional offices throughout the world, including longtime Coffee Kids partner countries Guatemala and Honduras, as well as Tanzania.

We believe that an entrepreneurial approach is imperative to empowering communities. Successful projects are those that provide means for young farmers to achieve financial viability and improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.

Coffee Kids focuses on the realities of the human beings involved in the coffee trade and not only on the supply chain. For us, coffee is not just a commodity, but rather a community. We envision a global coffee community in which everyone has an equal seat at the table and in which coffee farmers thrive. We are working toward a world in which coffee-farming communities are self-sustaining and families have a life of dignity.

Coffee Kids continues to implement programs in Latin America in Guatemala and Honduras. In 2016, we added our first ever African program in Tanzania

Coffee Kids is a program of Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung North America, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donations from US-based donors to Coffee Kids are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
